This is probably not a popular opinion around here, but I still want to see /vp/'s opinion about this.

Does anybody get worried that there will be too much Pokemon? I've played every single main series Pokemon game so far, and I love them all. I have favorite Pokemon across each generation, yada yada yada. But the BW generation was short compared to Gen 3/4 standards, and it still brought a whopping 156 Pokemon. The XY generation will bring the total Pokemon count to over 700, PLUS mega evolution. I don't even mind 700-800 Pokemon existing.

I am however afraid of when Gen 8/9 comes around, and the total amount of Pokemon goes over 1000. At some point, the total amount of Pokemon might even be pushing 2000. Not to mention Gen 3 brought alternative formes, and Gen 6 is bringing mega forms, so it would be more if you count those. Can you even imagine 2000+ Pokemon? How long would it even take to Catch Em' All?

Also, the way the Pokemon game series works is that every little move added, every ability, form, non-key item, etc is forever added to the game series, which is also quite worrying since they need to add every single insignificant feature, like every useless berry, to every generation until they quit making Pokemon games.

I'm not saying cap the amount of new Pokemon, just maybe slow down the amount being added? They could have more games like BW2, which in their own way could be original games without adding new Pokemon, but unlike BW2 they wouldn't take place in existing regions.

Food for thoughts.
