It just looks like a face because of the lines on the blade giving the appearance of closed eyes and teeth.
It's probably the best part of Honedge's design.

imo, would look better if there werent shorts and the bandages, and made the bottom round or slightly pointed like a sword sheath.

as for the face, I would make it bigger and flatter, more like a mask than an actual human face.
