Palkia lost his marbles because the pearls on his body cracked. So he started fighting with Dialga.

Darkrai tried to stop their fighting because it was fucking shit up.

Magic disk plays in the "Time and Space" towers and does some kind of calming healing magic that restores Palkia's pearl. The two stop fighting.

Darkrai is the goddamn batman.

2000 is also god tier. Great message, great Pokemon, Lugia being a BAMF. I liked Entei because Charizard kicked ass, and it has a couple of really good battle scenes, but that's pretty much it.

I watched the Keldeo one recently, god DAMN it was fucking terrible. Also, the Shaymin one was pretty bad. What does /vp/ think of Jirachi: Wish Maker? I thought the Flygon flight sequence was badass.

Wait, I don't mean to knock on OP's opinion, but the Pokemon Ranger film is actually considered good? Maybe it was because I wasn't paying too much attention when I watched it (back when it first came out), but it seemed pretty meh to me.

However, I can agree that Destiny Deoxys and Spell of the Unown were some of the better Pokemon films.

Destiny Deoxys was the best pokemon movie, the fight scenes between Rayquaza and Deoxys were fucking intense, the city was amazing, and the Characters (aside from max) were likable.
Spell of the Unown was the balls too, Misty and Brock actually got to fight, we got some Milf Ketchum, ENTEI VS CHARIZARD.

One of my favorites as well. As annoying as Ash can be, he was undeniably based in this movie. The subplot with May and Manaphy was also kind of touching. Greatest thing about the movie though is that it still has the best music out of all the movies by far.

I love the movie, but you do have a point. I don't know why they had to make that movie so short. On top of that, they barely advertised it. It's total theatrical gross in America was only about $750,000. slightly off, don't feel like checking Hell, I would have seen it if I had known it was in theaters.

I'd also like to inquire about the anime series. I was never really too into it even as a kid, I also tried to rewatch the first season about a year ago but I didn't really like it. I blame the dub, but I couldn't find any subbed version.

Would you recommend watching it? Either starting from the beginning or watching a later season?

Eh, the Indigo League season is good for nostalgia's sake (and honestly holds up even for a children's show). Beyond that, I would say tread with caution. I'm biased to the Battle Frontier season, I found that to be one of the better ones (others may disagree). Sinnoh was decent as well, especially towards its end.

My personal favorite remains the first movie. The original undubbed version of the first in particular is just outstanding, especially the edition of the "Birth of Mewtwo" segment at the beginning.

Other movies that stand out to me are Power of One, Spell of the Unown, Pokemon Heroes, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Temple of the Sea, and Rise of Darkrai, I all liked those a lot, with Pokemon 2000 and Heroes being my second and third favorites.

The rest I either thought were okay, I don't remember very well, or just sort of all blend together for me, having seen most of them only once or twice while they were being streamed by folks on /vp/ a year or two back. And on the note of my memory being fuzzy, which movie was it that had May being hit-on by that fat guy who must've been about four or five years older than her or more?

The thing he GREATLY exaggerated was what Meowth translated from Mew. In our version, Mew says that all of the Pokemon are equal. In the original, he says that the clones aren't true Pokemon.

That's it. Weaboo's fucking exaggerate it to balls all the time, and hold the Japanese version on a pedestal, when in reality, it was the American version that actually had the better Mew.

And while yes people exaggerate Mew's stance on clones the fact is had problems with them puts more impact on Ash's desire to stop the fighting, to prove that he cares about both sides while Mew and Mewtwo wanted to prove they were better than each other.

I like the Japanese version more but I still like the dub. It was the only Pokémon movie I got to see in the cinema and I do have nostalgia for it. A preference for the Japanese version and acknowledgment of the problems with the dub doesn't always mean hatred of the dub.

But little errors like getting the names wrong happens in every dub ever. It really can't be used as a point if it doesn't actually affect the film. Ditto with the Machamp thing, which I assume was either intentional, or an editing glitch.

The only point you have there is that Ash would have had more at stake if there were TWO super-powerful Pokemon fighting for equally bad reasons. This would be fine, if it wasn't for the fact that Mew is presented as an adorable and curious pink kitten throughout the first 80% of the movie, before being outed as a somewhat Poke'racist.

Taking the emphasis off of Mew, meant that the dub focused more on the fact the Mew and the real Pokemon were defending themselves. This works well, because while there is now only one villain in the movie, it shifts EVERYTHING onto Mewtwo, who even in the Japanese version, is supposed to be the clear antagonist.

I understand that both have there merits, and it's genuinely interesting to take note of differences, via changes in editing, or culture. But when weaboo's use it to claim superiority, that's when I have a problem.

It seems kinda separated from most of the Pokemon movies who's subtitles at least include Pokemon.

My favorite is Wish Maker. I thought the plot had a good balance of each character, and Jirachi is my favorite Pokemon (alongside Chimecho).

I wish they had gone for the original plot they developed for the third film, the whole real life t-rex discovered and the Pokemon war thing. But 3 has that rustic Johto feel of nostalgia that I love to death.

People actually think that some of these films are god tier? The best ones were the 3rd one and the Lucario one and they were mediocre at best.

Usually they do things differently for some Pokemon between movies and the show. Take Lugia for example, having a voice in Pokemon 2000 and being relegated to a simple cry in the anime.

Honestly, I wish they kept up the cries for the Regi trio in the show.
