The term refers to people who refuse to acknoedge or immediately dismiss new pokemon because that's trendy to do. People using it to describe people who like gen 1 or misusing the term, and ate faggots

Gen 1 contains the most and worst bugs despite needing far less code than its successors. An entire type advantage was left out by error!
If any gen is objectively inferior, it's the first. You can say its flaws are "part of the charm", but then you are no longer being objective.

Genwunner comes partially from the world whiner. So if you aren't bitching, whining, hypocritically complaining, etc. they you're not a genwunner.

People have been saying it for a long time, and Transformer's fans have been saying it for even longer.
Also it doesn't mean "people who like Gen I", it mean "people who only like Gen I and say other pokémon look like shit, or other gens are unnecessary, etc".

Kanto as a region was remade in Gen III
They were horribly unbalanced (Psychics being nearly unstoppable)
They were very buggy
They lack the depth of later battle systems (No Sp Def, No Abilities, Lack of variety in moves)
Lack of many features of later games (Move Deleter, Breeding)

The things you can like from Gen I are the pokemon designs and maybe the soundtrack.
