And as a Chesfriend, I'd love to see something that's neither dark nor ground. Get weird with it, Pokemon. Give me grass/rock or grass/fairy or something. I'd even be happy with grass/poison again, for fuck's sake.

I personally don't play competitive, and pretty much any type combination can work ingame since the games are always so easy, so I don't care about "shit types" and such, I just think Water/Dark sounds awesome for a ninja frog.

You realize that failed in Gen 1 because Gengar was also part poison, ghost moves included Lick, and that was it, and then psychics were immune to ghost type due to programming errors, right?

Ghost was a fine type in Gen 4 and 5 due to the physical special split. Now Gen 6 is happening, ghost is resisted by a single type, super effective on more above that, and then they can't be trapped now.

Ghost hasn't been bad in the past 13 years or so.

I prefer froakie and I'd like it to become dark, because a frog ninja would be cool, this would be the fourth gen in a row with a fighting starter, and we already have a water/fighting frog.

The PokéBeach leaks claimed Froakie would have a ninja-inspired design theme. The leaker may have confused ninja with rogue though, which fits the medievel RPG theme that Masuda confirmed in an interview a while back.

Water/Dark and Grass/Fighting would be in the best interest of both of the starters, assuming Water/Dark gets Sucker Punch. But even if Grass/Dark got Sucker Punch, they would be very, very weak to U-turn, which is bad for them, but water/dark could handle it.

Being half Dark-type in a generation that introduces a new type that hits it for SE damage isn't in any of the starter's best interests. It would be a burden for whichever one got it. The best types they can hope for are Grass/Steel and Water/Fighting
