What is the point of buying a 3DSXL, versus buying a regular 3DS? From what I can tell, the 3DSXL is just a 3DS that costs $30 more and has a shittier pixel density.

It is not very comfortable keeping it in your pocket (from personal experience gathering play coins) but I doubt a normal 3ds would feel good either.
The design is more rounded and the color is matte instead of glossy so it doesn't get fingerprints all over it.
I got cramps from holding my ds lite for too long so the xl feels better. The dpad still feels kinda awkwardly placed to me though.

I made the jump from a DS Phat all the way to a 3DSXL. Definitely fits better in my pocket than that thing did at least

Is it really that much better? The L button is near dead on my 3ds (along with some other bits) and I was thinking of replacing it, sounds like I might get an xl then

The 3DXL's pixel ratio isn't fucked up or stretched as i first thought, and it feels great in your hands. As for the standard 3DS it feels cramped as fuck when you hold it

The pixel ratio seems to depend on the game. DS games actually look really good on it. Most 3DS do too. The only game I've found looks worse is Tales of the Abyss 3D.

I've never met anyone with tinier baby hands than me in my life (not even six inches long ;_;) and the XL feels just fine. it's only slightly bigger than a DS phat but lighter and I don't remember anyone complaining about that.
