Are fossil Pokemon always dual rock types because it's simply a side effect of being brought back from a fossil?

Or is it possible that rock types were some of the earlier types of Pokemon(Excluding legendaries and gods)?

Is there much information given on that the prehistoric Pokemon world was like?

I read a theory once that, yes, they're all part rock because the technology used to revive fossils isn't sophisticated enough to detect both types so it picks up rock from the fossil itself.

If in the pokémon world they are capable of bringing back these pokémon based on leftover DNA, why don't they just bring back everybody's pokémon once they die? Lavender Town would not need to exist.

Maybe Mew is simply the "ancestor" Pokemon because he created the others out of rocks with magic and shit, which explains the rock type of all fossil Pokemon.

Hell, maybe Geodude and it's evolution line are some of the first "mortal" Pokemon. Possibly prototypes.

Tyranitar is rock type, and it's fair to assume he existed in the mesozoic poke-era. I'm guessing rock and water were the most primal types.

If you were to do this you would technically get an egg, it would incubate and you would get the earliest form of the pokemon. Cloning is not copying. For example when scientists cloned Dolly the sheep they didn't get a full grown fucking sheep, it was a fetus in a sheeps uterus and was born a lamb.

Maybe it's something that only works with fossil, due the possibility to replace missing dna with rock

I really think I'm on to something here when I say that Tyranitar was a primitive pokemon. Maybe almost all of the species' fossils were revived and reintroduced into the wild to breed with others of its kind, which is why you're able to seek out wild Larvitar. If that were the case, shouldn't we find untamed Aerodactyl in the wilderness of later generations to come?

If cloning in the Pokémon world is anything like in the real world (the mew diaries in cinnabar mansion suggest this to be the case), then the Pokèmon "brought back to life" are not actually the same individual being.

As in, the Pokémon keeps all the physical features of the being it was cloned from, but save for epigenetic changes no memory of its previous life remains.

Thus the formerly dead Pokémon will not remember anything of its previous owner and life, which sorta beats the point.

I guess this doesn't stop some people from trying though, see "Copycat", a cat that was cloned on request by her owner.
