Read through some of the Rate my Team threads for UU in Smogon

You don't have to copy the team or anything but it's good to see the thought process these guys had behind making their teams

Make a general team that covers all your weaknesses, look at Smogon for moveset/EV tips.
Get more creative once you've battled enough to understand what's going on.

Most of smogonfags including me, play competitivly AND ingame. When I play in game, I don't care of IVs, nature, etc...

It's almost the case in OU for the teams, but it's a little more strategic than OU.

1) start by making sure you got all the basics down to pat. what type is good against what, what this or that move do, ivs evs blahblah.

2) go to smogon and read all their articles, movesets, RMT threads etc.

3) play on pokeshowdown simulator to get the feel for battling.

but yeah there's a reason, mostly of it being "hurr eets all luck", but I don't think evasion moves should be outright banned, as it would take the whole "OHKO or go home" metagame and chuck it out the window

pic related, something that needs to die or at least have counter hazards of different types, this shit overcenteralizes the meta on ground/rock types
