Red and Green were the original versions, and Blue was the "fixed" version, with all the bugs taken out (all the ones GF could find anyway).
Blue was made into Red and Blue outside of Japan. Those were the ones you played as a child.
Unless you're Japanese, you didn't play the original Pokemon.
