Which place would /vp/ like to see be made a region in a future Pokemon game?

Personally I'd like to see Scandinavia, but that's admittedly only because I am Scandinavian.

Also, please don't turn this thread into a /pol/ thread.

California 'cause muh homeland, Hawaii because I think the whole multiple islands thing would be a good idea for making a whole entire region, not just a bonus area like the Sevii islands. Switzerland because I have a very special place in my heart for Switzerland and it's just a damn beautiful country.

nah i see the scandinavia based region being named candvia, the professer being named professor pin, yew, or spruce. The grass starter would be based off the world tree yggdrasil. The water starter based of the midgard serpent or nidhoggg, hell even frost giants. of course the fire starter would be based of the fire demons.

Northwest US. It'd be great because the varied geography of the region could be mirrored in a game while still providing the diversity expected in pokemon (deserts, mountains, forests, fields, sea routes, ect)

I imagine you'd start somewhere on the Olympic peninsula, maybe Port Angeles, Olympic National Forest would be the 'Viridian forest' type area, then you'd work your way down US101 until you hit Olympia, which would be 3rd or 4th gym. Then you'd work your way up I-5, 7th and 8th gym would be in Victoria and Vancouver B.C. Victory Road would go North to Southern Alaska, E4 would be (approximately) in Juneau. Eastern Washington could be full of postgame content.

Geography is strange in Pokemon. Normally a requirement of a place that the game is to be based on is variation in environment. Apart from just urban/rural, it tends to include jungles, deserts, forests, shorelines, tundra etc. to make the game's adventure dynamic. It also seems to require that the region at large has a certain unifying character to it, adding to the wonder.

And because of the nature of the game it needs to be done on a smaller scale as well, so it also needs to be specific. France is an excellent example of this.

Australia is vast, but can be environmentally covered. Apart from foresty bits and deserty bits, not sure what australia has to offer though. Guess you could throw in some of polynesia. Places like BC/Alaska, Southern 'states, Scandinavia, and especially Madagascar are ideal. Think "would this be a possible stand in for Mata Nui" and you've got yourself a region.

i really wished they did a "manifest destiny" sort of thing and expanded west from unova (new york) since the first four gens' regions were based on japanese regions. marshland and swamps in the south, great plains, rocky mountains, and a chaparral/coastline for the west coast would have been nice. of course, though, this wouldn't have been in just one game.

I'd be down for a great lakes region. Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Toronto. Mostly to see Chicago Pokemon-ified. The UK would be great as well. Wouldn't mind Mexico, could be done very well. New Zealand , Australia, the Phillipines would all be awesome.

You could probably do a game joining up PNG, Australia and NZ. PNG would have dense jungles and mountains; Australia plains, light snow, forests, deserts; NZ would be snowy mountains and volcanic activity.

Has anyone ever checked to see if all the regions maps roughly fit into a pattern of tile=RL distance relative to a map like OPs? Kinda curious what the "biggest" region is in terms of both RL space and map space.
