>>14094855i'm going to simply state what it looks like to me, with none of my opinions (yet): they took honedge, re-colored it, changed the design of the sheath, (possibly made the hands longer, though i'm not entirely sure,) doubled it, flipped the double over, added some sort of thing behind it, and said it was an evolution.
as for my opinion: i'm not entirely in favor of it. if the thing behind it turns out to be a shield, or if it has some sort of better-looking 3rd evolution, i can easily get over it. otherwise, it probably won't be something i'll train until much, much later. furthermore, they've done a lot better with a lot less. take beldum for instance: just a simple, stone, rocket-looking thing with claws or pincers of sorts on its ass. just about as good of a design as honedge (more or less). now look at metang. clearly just 2 beldum put together, BUT it's not like they took some duct tape or something and strapped them together, like honedge's evo here. they made the beldum fuse in a way that makes an entirely new and distinct looking thing, while still sharing some minor qualities of the beldum (i.e. the claws/pincers on beldum's ass become the claws/fingers on metang's arms/hands. the head of each beldum form to become the head/body of metang, and single eye on each beldum become the eyes of metang). this new evo though, it still looks like 2 completely separate pokemon. the eyes don't come together to make a face, the arms don't even look like they would belong to a single thing (as in, it would appear that each arm is still belonging to each individual honedge, rather than one entity).
so for me, the only thing that makes or breaks this pokemon is, as i said before, either that the thing on its back is a shield or something that makes it more distinctive from it's prevo and ties the 2 honedge together more neatly in some way, or that its final evo is something better looking and isn't just some third sword slapped in the middle.
