I think he's just a kid that really takes pokemon seriously, little bit too much, sometimes he forgets to write, sometimes he forgets to take breaks looks up and wonders why he's starving and why two hours had passed, but is still a pretty friendly and nice kid. Just isn't one for conversation, let battles do the talking. Not to say he isn't badass in his own right, he did topple Team Rocket as a side thing while he was trying to get badges.
But not like DA LIVING LEGEND, NATURE BOY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. That's just me though.
