Look at Chespin. You can tell that even though this picture is 2D, Chespin himself is still a 3D model from the subtle details. Only a fool would mistake it for a drawing.
Now look at OP's picture. Where's the subtle details that shows it's a 3D model? The jags are basically non-existent. It's TOO SMOOTH to be a 3D model on the first 3D pokemon game developed by Gamefreak. It looks like a drawing, not a model.
Indeed, that's how you can spot the fake.
