When I used to watch weekly anime it still took at least six hours for high-quality sub groups to translate, sub time, check etc. a 25-minute episode.
And that's even when they've been doing a weekly anime and have it all organised already.

Having a very bare bones basic understanding of Japanese (namely phrases that you normally hear in the Pokémon anime), I can honestly say that you don't need subs to understand what's going on. ESPECIALLY if you've played Red and Blue.

Yeah, he went to the Cerulean Cave and encountered an "unknown Pokemon" that kicked his ass, and then they tried identifying it for a bit until eventually realizing what it was.
