1. a hospital
2. the police
3. a shopping center
4. an airport
5. a library
6. school/ university
7. bank
8. office of IRS and water department and electricty department
9. mail office

i live in a small place. we don't have everything, (for example we don't have a decent hospital) but everything we have is within walking distance.
everything else is either next town over (15 mins walk) or one bus stop to the other direction.
but than again, I do NOT live in a city. a city where everything is in walking distance can't be called a city, and while we are at it- public transportation isn't 'walking'. you can argue it's better than owning a car tough, why didn't you try doing that?
