>>14133420All of these work. They removed details from the previous evolution that made it stand out. It was a fox-like creature that was bipedal but still predominantly a fox. It carried a wand, had puffs of fur to balance out its body more, and it didn't have to be overdesigned at all to stand out as it was.
The "robe" covers up too much of its body, in the sense of it making it look like a long funnel object with a fox head. It lacks balance because of it. It looks like they tried to balance it with that little pattern thing it has going on with its chest, but it doesn't work nor particularly fir the theme they're going for.
The "robe" design is probably what throws it off the most. The tail is completely overshadowed now, when the tail used to be a feature of it that stood out and made it more obvious that it was a fox. The fox paws? Hidden. The stick it used as a wand? Who knows what happened to it. It should have been shorter and designed a bit differently. Showing off more "skin" may have done it.
