Nobody hates Swampert, Sceptile and Blaziken get some hate, but Blaziken is also really popular despite being furbait, and people generally are OK with Sceptile.
Gen 4 though, well not a lot of people like most of those starters, I see a lot of love for Torterra, mixed love/hate for Infernape and nobody even talks about Empoleon. Gen 5 was a legendary disaster and even though these evos look kinda derpy they aren't THAT bad. Not yet.
