Why is the pokemon fandom so petty when it comes to the designs of the pokemon themselves?

Every day I see a dozen fuckwits here who needs to whip out charts that shows how their childhood was raped by cherry picking newer pokemon they don't like as an example of the series going to shit or how Ponyta is a clearly better designed pokemon than Keldeo as they're small horses and the one with the mane made of fire is a more realisticly designed than the one inspired by D'artagnan.

Another thing I hear all the time is how newer Pokemon look like Digimon now. Do you see what Digimon look like? Most of them are fucking reptilian/robot hybrids with bazookas for arms or literal humanoids with wings. Pokemon don't even remotely look like them even with all these elaborate mega evos popping up. One of the most iconic Digimon (Agumon) could easily pass as a relative to a Charmander but no one points that out. Blastoise could pass as a Digimon as well but you don't hear these shitters point that out.
