What would you think of a Pokemon game made up of completely water routes? Every town could be on a different island and you start the game off with a Pokemon that can surf.

I'd like a pokemon game with a fuckload of water routes, and very, very few islands inhabited by pokemon.

I think it'd provide an interesting take on the pokemon world.

Only if swimming in regular looking water didn't constantly throw random battles at you.

Make swimming in darker water only trigger battles.

It would get incredibly annoying otherwise.

They could put in little shoals so you don't have to battle swimmers the entire game. And another haunted boat like in Hoenn instead of the usual house.

And no pressing 'a' to surf, if it's gonna be all water routes, it should be quick and automatic.

What if Kyogre flooded the Earth in some unstoppable rage and everybody was too fucking retarded to find Rayquaza.

And the whole thing is just a quest to get pieces of a map that leads you to the Red Orb so you can reawaken Kyogre and battle him to the finish to reclaim the land.

Since the region is water filler, sure. Make all the Pokemon WATER type, but have secondary types to make them unique. Starters for example could be Water/Grass, Water/Fire, and Water. Everyone is Water.

>still islands with other exotic pokemon
>underwater volcanos for fire types
>atlantis-esque city
>platforms in the water for gym leaders / trainer battles so fighting on the water isnt only water based

As if one underwater ruins with almost no purpose (save Arceus plates) is better than a region with five routes with underwater areas for exploration with hidden items that you actually make use of (shards, heartscales, starpieces,star dust, and vitamins.)
