It's been years since I time Capsule traded, but wasn't it just a simple trade with bullshit attached?
It seems like they've gone up, migrating, crossbowing, boxing, all those seem like improvements.

The Time Capsule allows for direct trades. The only restrictions is that you must have zero Generation II Pokémon and no Generation I Pokémon with any Generation II moves.

My question is: why not allow direct trades between Generations III and IV, IV and V, and V and VI? They could make it so it has all the other goodies of the Pal Park, Poké Transfer, and Poké Transporter (Pokémon go to the PC boxes, etc.).

Because the DS didn't use link cables.

The DS game can overwrite the data in the GBA games though, just let you swap them out.

Well, sure. The DS simply reads the saved game data of the GBA cartridge. I guess Pal Park makes sense in that case, since direct trades would be complex to achieve; however, it doesn't explain why they can't do it for the DS and 3DS games, other than probable laziness.

You'd need some kind of accesory to trade from GBA to the slot, and then try to put that in the DS. The current trading from from cart to DS is better in that it doesn't need extra stuff, and I'm not even sure the slot can send data to another game unless it's an accesory like the guitar hero buttons

I think it's because both have conectivity as deatures themselves, so trying to ge an accesory just to turn one kind of data to another would be not received well. Unlike a DS who had 2 slots, a 3DS only has one, so it has a DS mode and a 3DS mode. Both modes don't interact with each other
The poke bank would be this accesory reading DS info and turning it for the 3DS, but in a massive way

Because Gold and Silver were the only games that concerned themselves with continuing the story of Red and Blue, showing you were the characters from the original games were now, and generally rewarding you for playing the previous games, which is why Gen II is the best generation.

I don't get why Game Freak announced Black 2/White 2 as the first direct sequels in the series (to Black/White) when Gold/Silver hold that title (being direct sequels to Red/Green). Heck, they were originally titled "Pocket Monsters 2: Gold & Silver".
