I only use 3 reddit things. Subreddits? All of which are directly related to my field of study. (So their about plants, poisons, and chemical reactions)
At one point I tried r/pokemon. It was forever ago, there were under 10k subscribers. It was okay then. It's just become a haven for hipster scum that buy something on ebay and then post "LOOK WHAT I FOUND IN MY MOM'S ATTIC!" or a link to some shitty web comic about pokemon.
The problem with reddit is the point system. People get so fucking enthralled with internet points that mean jackshit. That and you can register for an account at 13. I mean, anyone can use 4chan, sure, but reddit actually embraces that shit.
As far as the WARNING about linking here, it goes to show how stupid some people are. Oh, a link to a 4chan board? must be full of porn/gore. Not everyboard is NSFW. Christ.
However, we aren't perfect either. The one thing, the ONE thing, reddit has going for it is that the point system does actually prune shitty topics a lot faster. If you look at the catalog on a news heavy day on /vp/ there will be a page full of the same image.
I prefer all you guys over redditors any day though. So glad I found y'all.
