Looked yesterday, Nothing at any of the retailers. I got info out of one of the employees that the games are in the back, but they have the "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL 10/12/2013" stickers all over it.

Meijer, Target, Walmart,K-Mart. I had a conversation with one of the electronics guys and he had just mentioned there were some boxes with the do not open stickers on it. Even if you do find it on the shelf, the cash register will block the sale.

The best chances to find it will be at smaller stores, preferably one without an advanced cash register system. Any retail location is going to have PokemonXY street dated and the cash register will block sales (I used to work in an electronics department.) If they are using an old school cash register without barcodes, they won't get any prompt for street date.

It's unlikely, but there are ways around it if you want to put some money under the table. You can ring up a generic item on any POS terminals, because they aren't perfect, and then the local employee will just reduce the product count by one.

Yeah, west central ohio barely has any independent gaming shops. The ones that are here seem to just sell old games dvds and cds. I've been checking stores on my lunch break (walk into the store, browse electronics, but hot lunch from deli, power level not revealed.) and it seems they're still keeping the lid pretty tight

I'm in Columbus, and there's a small chain that's a 10 minute drive from my college, the problem is that they have a system similar to GS. I'll stop by and check there tomorrow, but I doubt I'll get any results.

If you go farther down towards north High Street you'll find a used video/cd/dvd/game/etc. store that also does new releases. They're a small chain so I'm not sure if they'll sell it, but it's worth a try.

I know the big chains won't, there's one local independent retailer in another town (I don't know if that's the right word, they have like four or five shops around the country and they're a bit chavvy) I might call in tomorrow while I'm there, but I'm not expecting much luck...

For NYers: Apparently Nintendo World is planning a midnight release party event starting at 8 on that Friday. May wanna try that as a last resort if you can't find anywhere else. Trouble is, it lands on the first big day of New York Comic Con, so I imagine it'll be kinda crammed with people coming straight from there at 7pm to line up for the event.

Yeah, I know. I called all the GameStops in Southern Maryland, and nothing. The only one that I could find was one in Severna Park that is gonna have a midnight release that's supposed to be pretty big.

Other stores might sell some copies, but I assure you it's nothing with ninty's punishment. Other stores might brake it, but I've been told nintendo has ways to know who did (apparently cartridges with IDs linked to retailers).

Source: I work at Fnac. I'm pretty much obligated to work the 12th regardless of being a holiday unless i want to lose my job
