>mfw all the kneejerk reaction to Mega Evolutions and new Pokemon
I think we need to get another perspective on this issue. Most of those who criticize the new Pokemon and Mega Evolutions criticize their design, or the fact they 'ruined someone's childhood'.
Let's make something absolutely clear from the get-go, I like Pokemon, however, it wasn't my childhood. I watched the anime when it came out, but I never got into the games until Platinum, and that was only because my father pirated it onto a flash card. So I'm more neutral about Gens I-III.
What's my point you may ask? We need to calm down for a minute and not worry about the design of the pokemon too much, but instead worry about their effectiveness in battle. There are plenty of examples of Pokemon with an overall pleasing design, but they either have very low stats or a shallow movepool, with Flareon being a famous example.
Also, there are instances of pokemon with designs people considered relatively weak, but came in and surprised everyone with hardhitting moves or well-rounded stats, the most famous example of this, especially with Nuzlockers, being the Bidoof line.
TL;DR: Stop with the 'MUH CHILDHOOD' bullshit and see how they do in battle, they may surprise you.
