Friendly reminder that this is the last generation of Pokemon.
They decided to go back to what started it all, Red and Green (Blue).

I think there's also truth to >>14189294 because this will be the last generation for some long time fans, so I feel as if this is, in some ways, an attempt to keep them from leaving.
But, when it comes down to it, they will keep making them if they sell, that much is for damn certain. Look at Mario or Zelda.

Well for me, Gen 6 is offering me the last thing I've wanted out of the series. I wanted a full 3D proper Pokemon game since Pokemon Snap and Stadium first came out for the N64 and the idea of a full 3D Pokemon game came about.

I look back at Gen 5 and while I really liked a lot of the Pokemon themselves, on the whole I was a fairly underwhelmed by the games, BW2 especially. But, Gen 6 is offering some drastically new things and giving me the last thing I wanted, so I'm in and I want to play. But I don't see them wowing me for a Gen 7 and I think it'll be time to bow out.

They are banking on Gen one guys and girls. Think about it, marketing gen one pokemon and the first 3d adventure that's canon. They got my by the balls after all, everyone has dreamt of a game like this since the first one came out.

Why would you start at DPP? People have been saying this since Gold and Silver which actually were supposed to be the end of the series, per the creator's own accounts at the time.

The most we could really expect is if they do a redo of the Pokemon system entirely, retconning some pokemon, revising the mechanics, .etc

And really complete the transition to a platform where they're not really hindered by system restrictions anymore in terms of core gameplay.

As much as I want a reboot. There's no reason on making such a drastic change and risk ruining such stable profits.

Once its popularity starts to dwindle in like a decade or so if ever, then a reboot could be done. It'll never be what you wish it to be if they keep it kid friendly

Probably the only reason I am going to try to get back to Pokemon after playing competitively Gens I to IV and stopping at V. Even trying to play Pokemon Black right now is not making me interested in trying to finish the game with its uninspired roster of new Pokemon
