Because as far as OU/Ubers is concerned, they are.

If a Pokemon has a suboptimal typing, it needs to have high speed and a decent stat spread to make up for it. Without either of those two factors it just doesn't cut it at the top, which is all most people seem to care about.

From what I've observed it's mostly because it's faster paced which is more conducive to running large-scale tournaments, because it's not balanced at all. "Balance" is stupid ground to lean on anyway.

OU is the way it is because of how the cutoff works, a lot of non OU pokemon are very much viable in the setting, but not used enough to be above the cutoff. This is an old one, and kind of outdated. I keep flip-flopping between Ninjask and Shedinja for bug, and Tyrantrum might replace Regirock.

I also have a lot of really close-seconds, though some of them are under-evolved.

There are counters to high evasion and unless you're playing against one of those cheating fucks from the Battle Tower, you'll likely KO any pokemon desperate enough to use a one-shot move before it gets you.

Like I said, shit is more viable on VGC but VGC can also be as centralized as OU. OU is weather wars? Then VGC is speed control wars. Both have their good and bad.
