"Mega Evol = power up for Pokemon in XY there for it = FS in Smash!".
It's become clear that GF REALLY put a lot of thought into Megas and wants this to be a new "big thing" for the series so i don't see them just being some power up that actually goes against the entire principal of the concept for smash.
As in, when a Mega evol happens it's not temp and it can simply be triggered when every. It's not a hex button or game accomplishment like the other transformation FS attacks in brawl.
So here's how I see it ...
>Pikachu>Jpuff>PT (he's factually the BEST rep for the series behind Pikachu. If they need to make cuts then just give him Charizard and leave it at that.)>Lucario is replaced by Mega Lucario (his intro is Lucario Mega Evolving)>Mewtwo comes back in either his reg form or as a Mega>Mega Blaze because apparently he's popular and important enough to GF to become the co-poster boy for megas along with Lucario right behind Char with Mewtwo leading the pack)Bam, PT cuts out 2 characters, Lucario is now Mega Lucario by default and we get a brand new Pokemon with Mega Blaze and Mewtwo returns ... in some form. Same number of Pokemon as Brawl.
Either that or ...
>Pikachu>Jpuff>PT with just Char BUT he can FS into Mega evol into Char X or Start the battle as Mega Char X (no going back, like with Samus. Charizard would have a more melee focused move-set and such when he's in X form)>Mega Lucario>Mewtwo with that same mega gimmick but with just one of his forms (I say Y. Char is X, Mew2 is Y. Plus Y is visually more different than Mewtwo X)>Mega Blaze (Or give Pikachu the mega gimmick. We know it's just a matter of time before Pikachu gets a Mega)
