It's like some people on /vp/ are so bent on hating gen1 as if it was the cool thing to do, that they forget that:
1. past mistakes do not justify current ones
2. what was not possible to do then is possible now.
There is absolutely no justification for a bad trainer AI nowadays, the 3DS has enough power to handle it and pokemon is such a big phenomenon that budget shouldn't even be an issue.
