- Eggs. The failsafe method of having shinies, as you absolutely can't miss one this way. It's also the slowest, although it allows you to breed for stats, natures and moves. You can also enhance this by having parents from different countries (for example, a french Ditto with an english Mareep will work, but an english Ditto with an english Mareep won't) for boosting the odds of having a shiny egg (4/8192 instead of 1/8192 in 4th gen games, and 6/8192 in 5th games). This method is known as the Masuda Method.
- Pokeradar. Only available in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, this method, if mastered, is the best to get shinies, as, if you can make a chain of 40+ identical pokes killed, you have 1/50 chance to have a shining grass, which is guaranteed to contain a shiny version of the poke you killed at least 40 of.
- Shiny Charm. Only available in Black 2 and White 2, this key item will add +2 to your odds of meeting shinies. That'll translate into odds of 3/8192 for encounters, resets and eggs, and 8/8192 if you use the Masuda Method.
- Pass Power "Charm Power". Only available in Black 2 and White 2 and only applicable to encounters, this power will reverse the odds of meeting pokes in any zone (for example, a zone with 70 % Zubat, 29 % Rattata and 1 % Eevee will become a 70 % Eevee, 29 % Rattata and 1 % Zubat), but, if you use the "+++" or "S" versions, it'll also boost the odds of encountering shinies up to 2 (for +++) / 4 (for S) times !
>That's fine, but which shiny should I hunt ?Whichever one you want. There are some sites where you can see the difference between normal and shiny colors, so use them to make your mind.
>Where should I go for information ?Serebii or Bulbapedia for the appearance of normal and shiny pokes. That and the information given before should be enough.
