All things considered, Greninja and Delphox are actually designed very well. They just have a few glaring issues that some people find hard to look past. Greninja has the tongue, which, I admit, I find a little tough to look past. Yes, it's cool how it's supposed to be the red ninja scarf thing, but...it's the TONGUE. I don't know.
Delphox's main problem is that it differed a little too much from Braixen. It went farther than most people expected it to. Personally, I don't really think it's a bad design. It just didn't end up being as cartoony as people expected it to be based off of Braixen.
