Nah, just qt ghost pre-evos I think the shadow thing is happening a bit too much now though. These 2, Orotto, Yamask have all been black blobs. Not that it's bad or anything, just a curious design quirk I guess.

Maybe. It might be because this is the first Europe-based region and Halloween is a holiday that started in Europe. They wanted european-style ghost pokemon.

the game is being released near the end of the year which is almost always preferable so that you can get holiday sales. usually you want to release a game at least a month or so before december though so you can get inital hype sales and then once those start to decline the holiday sales kick in and give you a good sales % of the original stock.

but yeah they probably realized it was going to time out with the pumpkin thing.

Halloween references are obvious material for Ghost types, the release date in October is irrelevant, and just a coincidence.
It's not like they knew the release date before they made the Pokemon, or planned the October release date because they made those Pokemon.
