I really don't want to browse through spoilers, so I'm just going to make this here and hope /vp/'s kind.

Has HM functionality changed at all in X and Y? I know there were rumors ranging from being able to overwrite HM moves to HMs being outright replaced by mounting.

I always just wished you got items like a hatchet or swimsuit or w/e to go on in the game...items youd get through the story to keep you from progressing too early, but also items youd always have with you. Fuck caves with rock smash, strength, surf and waterfall. I dont wanna lug around that shit.

Rock Smash is no longer an HM, and apparently most leakers have said that you don't use them very often, at least near the beginning. Pokemon that have an HM have a disc symbol on the Pokemon select screen.

Haven't heard about functionality itself.

Thats where I saw it. But thats not a real pokemon game lol. But it just makes too much sense to not do. We dont need hms anymore.

I heard you don't need to use HM as much as in previously generations.
I believe Cut, Strength, Surf and Fly are confirmed for this gen(and maybe Waterfall)
