If Jigglypuff's pokedex entry didn't specifically state it you wouldn't even know it was based on a balloon. And magnets are way more interesting than keys, and it's design is way better. The only way you could make a magnet pokemon as shit as the keys pokemon would be if magnemite was a fridge magnet with a face.

Technically speaking, the Pokemon isn't based on keys.

It's based on a key chain or ring.

Back in my day Pokemon were based off of ferrets and Asian birds. Gen II will always be the most creative of them all.

GameFreak's design process is completely backwards.
If they had started out with the idea of a kleptomaniac Pokémon that stole keys, they wouldn't have made a key with a face on it.
