Pokemon is not powered by rainbows, sunshine, and friendship. Their conclusion was based off the fact that, by trading 1-2% damage on non-STAB attacks you get drastically increased speed, guaranteed OHKO-2HKOs on top walls and tanks, and Adaptability there's no contest on what to pick.
The numbers don't lie. This isn't like Rampardos pre-gen 4.
