I'm pretty sure the backlash came after G/S/maybe C- the banned episode that gets attributed to it was Johto-era, and Jynx didn't go purple until Gen 3.

The fact we didn't get an evolution in Gen 4 with Electivire and Magmortar seems pretty telling to me as well.

Jynx has always been one of my favourites and I've been hoping for an evolution since before Gen II released. Smoochum is cute, but I really want a stage after Jynx.

Look at the picture with the ice Pokemon in the pokedex, i think it was the one featuring avalugg. Junx is there, with one spot before but no spot after. There isn't one.

Hence why Jynx dances all the time and has no feet from the looks of things and has ice type.

They went overboard with the dark skin from the cold/tanning from sunlight off of snow though.
