Are you forgetting that there's also tons of older pokemon?

Don't you think it's strange that his final team ended up being only Gen 6 pokemon which we already knew about? This was also before we knew that tons of old pokemon showed up really fucking early.

You can even get a Bagon in the very beginning.

It seems safe to say that around 70 new Pokemon is what we're looking at, considering that after verification this leaker also stated Quilladin's evo was a "fucked-up hunchback Machoke" and Braixen's was "the same but wearing a dress" before any information about either of these was leaked by anyone else (not to mention his initial reveal of Hawlucha and pics).

A few reviews now have even mentioned the lack of new Pokemon in comparison to previous gens - and it's not that difficult to see why there are less this time around. It's pretty obvious that they were instead building the models/designs for all the new Mega Evolutions (which are supposedly around 50 total).

I'm a little worried about how this lack of new Pokemon will affect the gameplay, especially seeing as many of the new Pokemon revealed already have typings seen from previous gens (if there were only going to be 70, why not do all typings never seen before?).

Let's be honest, well over half of us were going to burn through the game and then go back to try to get the old Pokemon we like anyway. A new type, some new combinations, and still tons of mega evolutions yet to be seen.

All in all, as far as new content, I'm excite.

There were 100 new Pokemon in Johto, 135 for Hoenn, 107 for Sinnoh, and 156 for Unova.
This generation has pretty much been about revamping the game's mechanics from the start more so than seeing what new Pokemon they can belt out. As it is, people are going to be overly reliant on Fairy types and Mega Evolutions. I was hoping to see than just fairies all over. But if they were going to just make more Pikachu, Rattata, Pidgey, Geodude, Zubat, and legendaries of the same types just to bring the count to 100 do we really need them? It's the lack of a good post game that worries me, but I won't make any judgments about that until the game comes out

The best answer we can give you right now is "maybe". Pseudos occupy the spot right before the legendaries in the national dex, but we haven't actually seen the national dex rankings yet (everything's still Kalos dex right now).

There *is* one Dragon-type Pokemon who reaches its final evolution stage at level 70, so many people are assuming it will be the pseudo when we see the national dex numbers (and I'm inclined to agree with them).

Also, I wouldn't get *too* down about the 70 number right now. It seems more likely than not to be accurate, and yet most reviewers are saying X/Y has the most meaningful content of any Pokemon game in the series due simply to the size and detail of the world (and all the exploration that entails).

I'm still expecting for that to be unaccurate. 90 new Pokemon is the least I will accept, and I'm really lowering my standards by that. However given the last gen introduced 156 Pokemon, by now we have a lot of work to do to catch 'em all.

I watched a review gameplay and holy fuck this seriously looks like the best game ever. It's fast paced as promised, and if it's big then we have a great case of exploration. I hope it's this good.
