Either go 2DS or XL.

The 2DS is sturdier than the vanilla 3DS and might feel better in your hands, and the XL is superior in every way, from weight to screen size to not being a fingerprint magnet.

The general consensus is that the XL is better. If money isn't an issue, choose this one.

However, if you have tiny hands or enjoy carrying it outside or prefer the better resolution display of the original, it's not a bad option either.

The 2DS is essentially the above, just less portable and no 3D.

XL if you plan on playing a lot of games on it and you have the money.

Regular if you have small hands and portability is a top priority (although the XL should be able to fit in your pocket too).

2DS if you plan on playing nothing but Pokemon and you want to spend as little money as possible.

Got a 3DS close to launch as a gift. I found playing Pokemon White / White 2 uncomfortable because the D-pad was in an awkward position for my giant gorrila hands.

Upgraded to the XL last week. The thing is comfy as fuck and the upgrade in screen size is really, really great. Highly recommend it, at least over the default 3DS.

IMO, go either 2DS for cheapness or 3DS XL for comfy / good looking. The inbetween isn't too great.

If you are a grill or if you have small, stubby fingers, get the regular 3DS

If you have large hands, thought the ORIGINAL ASS Nintendo DS was a comfortable size, or don't mind dropping a little more, get the XL

If you have no monies, get the 2DS.

XL. Better battery life.

However, the volume control is where the hand rests on the left side, so it may shift when you don't want it to. My solution is a severed headphone jack strung to the side of the console to act as an impromptu mute button.
