>>14274637Does it ever bug you to think that if you were in a coma the day after you beat B2W2 and awoke a week from now to see the game on shelves, you would be blown away?
Like, I'm not calling you out too much since I feel some of the same pain, but...
it does sort of feel like the problem is just that GameFreak has run the hype train like a mad conductor, and nothing now could possibly live up to what our imaginations have filled in the blanks with.
We've become desensitized to all the amazing stuff and now all that's left is the stuff that isn't as good as we told ourselves it was gonna be.
If you got the entire game as a single piece of news, you'd piss yourself. Full 3D gameplay, Mega Evolutions, a new type and rebalanced type chart, three regional dexes, knight/mage/rogue starter typing triangle, Kanto starters, largest region yet, pokemon riding, dual-type attacks, Pokemon-Amie, complete overhaul of EV training and other tools (Ability Capsule) to make the competitive meta easier to engage in, all them new type combos...
like it's a pretty objectively impressive offering, when you think about it. But getting it piecemeal is like inching your way into the water and getting acclimated to it.
I feel like I should objectively be more overwhelmed than I feel, and I blame the fact that Nintendo was dropping thermonuclear hype bombs for half a damn year. It's like a trailer that reveals the plot twist; all the good stuff got given away and spoiled what should have been a truly impressive offering.
Kinda bums me out to think about.
