Why is everyone so angry about only 70 new pokemon? Totally ignoring the fact that this counts out megas which, have most of the qualities of a separate poke and took a lot of time to develop, don't you guys think we are coming to a point where we need to slow down poke production. We are up to somewhere around 720 at this point and that is a lot to keep track of. Pumping in 150 pokes each generation is going to ensure that the shrinking design space gets eaten up quicker. I know personally i would enjoy pokemon games to be made for years and years to come, and i think making massive generations would be a pretty good way for the games to jump the shark. Not making as many pokes is what allowed them to put more money and time into other areas and allows the game to be as detailed and polished as it is and that counts for quite a lot. I would much rather 70 pokes and a great game then 200 and a piece of trash.

I feel like you guys are trying to judge this gen in a vacuum without realizing that pokemon is a game that compounds upon itself with each generation rather than replacing.
