So, I am working on a bunch of Generation III hacks to make them a little better without taking away the original structure of the games, so far this is what I am planning to do.>Rare pokemon become uncommon, uncommon pokemon become more common, super common pokemon become just common. >TMs can be purchased, berries can be purchased. >Special event flags can be set and reset to be able to continually recapture legendary pokemon and the like. >Move tutors are now infinite and some of them relocated (no more Rock Tunnel Rock Slide.) >Revamped evolutions to be able to have them on single player (ie. Alakazam) >Version exclusives are still exclusive though. >Some useful items can be purchased (Ether and Masterballs.) >Some random items are replaced for better stuff (no more X Attacks on the floor and so on) Any other suggestions?

>>14281202 All Generation III games, I was inspired by the ability of my REVO K101 to link with retail games as well so I would be able to transfer more stuff from the enhanced games to the original ones and then to the DS games, they would also be nuzloke friendly by giving more chances to get rare pokemon in the wild and so on.

>>14280192 I'm also in the process of editing an Emerald game and I have made some substantial progress. I made three threads about it. The first one had some posts, the second one had at least 100 posts with a lot of helpful suggestions, while the last one was pruned with no posts....
I think this is a pretty good way to pass the time don't you think?

More fucking May. That said, if there is any way you could have both Brendan/May and Wally appear all the way through the game? Gen 3's rivals were the worst. Change Team Aqua/Magma so that they aren't total pushovers with a shitty purpose. More obvious shit like >Chill with the Tentacool/Wingull >Change some of the music somehow Make the legendberries obtainable before the Elite Four, specifically the Regi's. Also, after the 4th gym, make one of the Johto starters obtainable. Add some character to the Champion. Put him in the storyline a little more. Have him show up in Petalburg City instead of Scott. Last but not least, put some other kinds of Pokemon in Altering Cave. Something besides Zubat, but nothing so OP that you can run through the game with it. Pic related, how to make a game more playable without changing the story too much.

>>14281909 OH.
Yeah editing ROMs are a good way to spend time when you don't have plans and are home with nothing really to do.
I think it's fucking retarded and fun and frustrating and whatever.
I have a love-hate relationship with editing ROMS.
Mostly love

>>14281959 Well, yeah, I am kind of still messing around but I found lots of flags to re-enable legendaries, and now is mostly scripting them.
I am also moving the fishing brothers so you get the old rod as soon as you get to Viridian in FRLG so it will be easier to get Poliwag and Horsea (thanks to the rarity tweaking)
Anonymous
>>14282072 Yeah any clue how to fucking set the flag for legendaries and the sort for Emerald?
I have tried making a Mewtwo encounter in the game I'm editing but I can't seem to make the script correctly and I can only do pedestrian scripts and battle scripts

>ctrl+f Secret >0 results Random secret bases, with randomized high level trainers. They alternate in and out every day or so. Only 5 per day.

>>14282123 Well, it depends, I am only using the flags that are within the games, so in Emerald there is no Mewtwo flag per se, you could link his availability to a different event flag like getting the National Dex or so.
>>14282145 >>14282214 Music editing is out of my reach, I can only work with whatever is already inside of the games.

Are you following the boring-ass "infest the beginning of the game with boring normal types" paradigm? Or, are the beginning Pokemon of your games unique? My hack is set around pollution, so the beginning of my hack features a light sprinkling of wild Rattatas, Trubbishs, and Grimers. Still in the works, though.

>>14282931 My hacks are just revamping things that are already there.

>>14283092 So add event exclusives in. Go to the "list of event exclusives" page on Bulbapedia, go into Advancemap, and add them all to their proper locations. If you don't, someone like me may as well once you put it out. It really is that simple.
