I was hyped for generation 4
Gen 3 was when I first really started getting into Pokemon (I've played Yellow before that, but I was super casual )
I was never really hyped for Gen 5 or 6, but I bought Black/White and will buy X/Y out of principle, because I still know they're great games

Why is /vp/ whining again? Oh right, because only 70 Pokemon even though Sinnoh only had about 50 new evolution families, and Johto had around the same amount of Pokemon as well (70), discounting the useless baby Pokemon.

Dear god, /vp/ is just filled with pathetic man-children who are getting so pissed off over something that's pretty minor considering that most new Pokemon have pretty solid designs so far. And no, I don't even blame tumblr or leddit for this. /vp/ has always been filled with retarded man-children who throw massive shit fits whenever Gamefreak does something unexpected. I'm not saying that everything Gamefreak does is right, in fact I hate that they're clearly pandering to 12 year olds with some mega-evolutions, but you guys are complaining about stupid things while disregarding the major changes the game is bringing.
I really wish moot would purge this board. Maybe that way everything could be contained in /v/ and Pokemon could have its own general on /vg/ that would be filled with tripfags, but still much better than the babby-tier whining we've got here because likely those people will be on /v/ bitching instead.

Ever notice a pattern on things?
Generation 2 = Focus on old Pokemon
Generation 4 = Focus on older Pokemon
Generation 6 = Focus on older Pokemon

Gen 2 = Only 60 new evolutionary families
Gen 4 = 31 new evolutionary families

I don't believe in the starter pattern, but the generation pattern they've kept consistent so far.

I spoiled myself by reading the leaks, and I fully admit it-- it's definitely subdued my hype quite a bit.

That said, I'm excited as hell for these games still. Even if my own lack of self-control means I won't be going out to discover a bunch of new pokemon on my own, it's been great following Josh and Kanpachi and the other leakers and learning new things in bits and pieces rather than all at once like previous gens.

These games will be far from perfect, I'm certain, but this is a huge step forward for the series even if they took some stupid steps back. I'm hype, and I feel sorry for everyone wallowing in bitterness instead of accepting that you can enjoy something while admitting it has flaws.
