Red and Blue were the first Pokemon games and came out nearly 20 god damn years ago. Ruby and Sapphire had several legendaries to catch post-game and came out 10 years ago. Diamond and Pearl and Black and White had a ton of post-game legendaries to catch.

Past-fuck ups don't justify presetn day fuck-up rather it only makes the present ones more serious because they should have learned their lesson already.

Ruby/Sapphire had a quest so relatively complex that no pokemon game since has succeeded it. Getting the Regis was a post-game in itself without also looking for Wynauts or Rayquaza.

Diamond/Pearl's postgame was about evolving and trading the new evolutions of old pokemon, as well as finding all the legendaries.

Black and White had an entire half of the map dedicated to the postgame.
