I'm not all that disappointed with the smaller generation. I AM disappointed however that GF decided to reveal over half of them on the official website.
That makes absolutely no sense. Why would they reveal so many if they didn't have that many to show off in the first place?

Yeah, that's the thing I don't get. Why'd they show us so many if there were gonna be so few? When putting it in perspective I've personally come to terms with the whole 70ish Pokemon thing. Black/White the Gen just before it had the largest amount of new mons to date. Though this Gen has the smallest, it also adds Megas which I kind of count as at least half a new Pokemon. I just wonder why they showed so many new mons. I guess for hype purposes.

Honestly I'm not even upset at the small number of new pokemon; it's an even-number gen and it's a game where they're introduced a major battle mechanic/gimmick that also involves creating new designs, so I can't say I'm surprised.

But I AM annoyed that they revealed more than half of them beforehand. What was the point? To satisfy non-Japanese countries who are used to full information before the game is released for them?

I hope they hold back next time, assuming there is going to be another worldwide release after the clusterfuck this one was. There's a lot of bros among those 70 new pokemon, but it would have been cool to discover them for myself. If they had just revealed the starters, their evos, and maybe one or two pokemon every Corocoro instead of 3-5, it would have been better, I think.

I'm glad I paid attention to the leaks, because all the pokemon I liked turned out to have garbage evolutions, whilst pokemon I wasn't interested in turned out really good.

If i'd levelled up a Goomy just to see it become Slimy Barney I would have been pissed.

They do want you to catch mons from previous Gens. Its why they are everywhere. I guess in this game they wanted it to be one were you could have a greater variety of mons to choose from and to bring some old ones back to fame.

I guess, and that's fine, but frankly i'd prefer it if every game worked like Black and White. Fresh start, then all the old favourites come back for the postgame.

What I will say is the starters are better then both the previous two gen's, and the selection of new pokemon generally far better than D/Ps.

Game Freak's at their best when Nintendo isn't breathing down their neck, I'll accept this generation for what it is, but if they use Mega Evolutions as compensation next gen, I'm dropping the franchise. Mega evos are cool, but we're going to have a problem if it's only one per team and it's your reason for going full jew in regards to new 'mons.
