Squirtle is redundant with Froakie.
I'm not particularly the biggest fan of Charizard versus the other two.
However, of the Kanto Starters, Venusaur's Mega Evo doesn't change much (dunno about his actual stats/etc), Blastoise looks like shit and Charizard is version specific, which makes him feel important.
I've also never chosen Charmander before (Picked Bulbasaur & Squirtle in Gen 1; Bulbasaur in LG; Squirtle in HG), and the novelty of having a starter with a version exclusive Mega Evolution is tempting. Not because durr muh edgy dragon sneaky pebbles (since I am getting X, solely because I always choose Blue games), but just the fact that I'll have something different.
But then there's the fucking event Torchic. Regardless if Blaziken is good, I simply don't like that evolutionary line by design. Torchic's fine, but those evolutions. And there are other Fighting types I'd rather use, and I JUST used Emboar (why?) in Black 2.
I also don't particularly want to use Pyroar or Talonflame.
I honestly have no idea what I'll do. I guess I'll just play it by ear and see what I have at the time.
