Could it possibly be, that GF has some unreleased megas in store?
I mean... we can't hack into 3DS games and even if we buy the strategy guide, there could still be hidden event megas that can't be found anyehere, right?

Yes. There's probably some still hidden throughout the game, and they said there will be others like Blaziken, where you can only get throughout wifi events.

The way I see it, there's 4 possibilities here:

1. There's unreleased Megas and event Pokemon that have existing data in X and Y. See Mega Blaziken for example.

2. There's unreleased Megas and event Pokemon that don't currently exist in X and Y's data, and will have to be stored on an SD card. Not terribly likely, but theoretically possible.

3. There's unreleased Megas (but probably not event Pokemon) that don't currently exist in X and Y's data, but will show up in the third version, remakes and/or sequels. Think of the alternate forms for Rotom, Giratina, Deoxys and Shaymin. They'll be compatible with X and Y, but we won't see a visual change in X and Y, although their stats and movesets will be backwards-compatible.

4. There's no new formes/mega evolutions or event legendaries. Knowing Gamefreak and Nintendo, this one is practically impossible.
