But you're right about Z, as it's a snake it would be based on Jormungandr, the world serpent, not Nidhoggr the dragon/lizard that lives in the roots of the tree.

I'd sooner say Zygarde in Jormungandr than Nidhoggr.

Jormungandr being the world serpent it makes sense it's dragon/ground. But I'd assume Nidhoggr would have to be dragon and either dark or fire. Maybe poison (the whole eating roots thing thus making it strong to plants).

First, it's not gonna happen. Forget about it. Just cuz it appears in OP's image, doesn't mean squat. It's a legendary creature that lives in only one of the worlds from the tree, and that never comes into contact with the others. So I'd forget about it.
The other option, the one I'd like to belive because of my autism, is that they still have to reveal another legendary, like the deoxys or genesect of this generation, bringing the total of pokémon to 720. Which would be a somewhat better number than 719.

Jormungandr would be far more associated with Water than Ground, as it was in the sea. The Dragon/Ground typing is because Nidhoggr lives in the ground under the tree, and, imo, because its STABs are ineffective against the other two legendaries.

Dogs and foxes aren't even that close together evolutionarily. Forget the chimp people, foxes' last common ancestor with dogs is about 40 million years old. That's around the time our ancestors and those of squirrel monkeys diverged. If it were a wolf you might have a better argument, but it's a fox.

Well, I saw it happen when I was a kid. A wild fox was injured so my grandfather caught it and put it in a cage at home to treat it. Later that fox became "domesticated" (she was never released because she wasn't able to hunt for herself), any many years later had puppies with one of our dogs. That's a citation for ya.
