But the only thing that will even get so much as a tier change is Azumarill, and that's assuming it doesn't get destroyed by Lucario
The only thing they've successfully done is fuck up the type matchups so that we have to relearn them
Dragon and Fighting are still top tier, Steel is beyond top tier, Water is still retarded, and Poison gets the short stick of them all

I'm beginning to question just how competent the workers at GameFreak truly are...

I was so hyped about Fairy type, I defended it so much against naysayers. But now I am under no illusions that it is all shit. Everything that I wanted not to happen happened. Everything pink and cutesy, horrible stats... I feel betrayed, and embarrassed.

Plus, it's really fucking obvious now that GF have no idea how their own metagame even works. They thought just introducing the type and making it immune to Dragon was enough to make the type relevant.

I am really disappointed, and even a little angry. I fucking hope they make some badass Fairies in Gen VII to make up for this farce.

Is it just me or is there a distinct lack of power creep this gen? Small number of new Pokemon and I haven't really been impressed by any of their stats.

If it wasn't for old Pokemon getting new moves and that post game item that lets you change your ability (probably to unreleased Dreamworld abilities too) I think OU would've stayed pretty much the same.

You should have realized this when they added two, count 'em TWO slow, defensive Ice Types this gen, one of whom has a 4x weakness to Earthquake.

I think they actually believe that Ice is a strong defensive type.

Attack going any higher is quite unlikely because Huge Power is ridiculous and already gives Mawile the highest Attack stat in the game.

The thing is, because Mawile's BST is fucking 400 it's going to get a shitload of stats from Mega. It's extremely unlikely that all 200+ points are going into Defenses, meaning that it will probably get a little bump in Speed as well. (Unless GF is feeling extremely dickish in which case it'll go into Special Attack.)

Honestly, I'm already irritated that Gamefreak decided dumping points into Defense/Special Defense is the way to go on a pokemon with 50 fucking HP.

I think it's more likely that they decided not to add any very good Ice types because Fairies are already being added as a check against Dragons. Adding solid Ice pokemon on top of that could push them out of the meta entirely.

Mega Mawile will most likely recieve a boost to its physical attack with huge power on top of the defenses which is perfect. why give a pokemon with 50 base HP a boost in defenses you ask? The typing. Mega Mawile will sincerely wall anything that is not fire or ground and if its in the rain you won't even be able to hurt it with crazy defenses like that unless its a ground move. You also forget the movepool access. It may not need it but even if it does not get a boost in attack we can run swords dance on it if the defenses are high. with moves like Fire Fang, Iron Head, and and priority fairy move (bay doll eyes if its physical) Mawuile will wreck. For my fairy I am choosing Gardevoir over Mawile as hitting that posion dragon is important to me (I am a fairy gym leader in a pokemon league at the University of Central Florida) but Mega Mawile need not be undermined in anyway

The Japanese Metagame is based around doubles.

In doubles, Earthquake and Surf and the like are far weaker and Trick Room is far more dominant. The fact is that Americans are playing a game that hasn't been supported since Gen2.

When we can already theorycraft that Mega Lucario is too weak to be viable in Ubers, and in OU he has potential checks already, I think it's pretty safe to say (at least as safe as we can be with how little information is available on new Megas, attacks, and pokemon) he will probably be a fine OU Mega.

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if there started to be differences in opinions on how Megas should be tiered in the first place.

Reasonable speed does nothing if he isn't choiced, which, if you have a dragon type move is not a good idea.

The fairy can choice much more easily than him, and if it does it's likely to go first. Then he has a 4x weakness and he'll go down pretty easily.

Well Poison's a pretty good defensive type when it has Levitate and stuff. And it's only bad without it because Earthquake and Psyshock are really common.
Fairy's weaknesses are Poison and Steel, that means anyone that wants to target it is going to have to replace an existing coverage move with one that's targeted almost exclusively at Fairy.
