Four badges or some equivalent to be found across an archipelago of small towns, with rare/nonregional Pokemon to be found and plenty of neat hidden areas and secrets.
If you collect the mini-region's four badges you can enter tournaments against top-level AI opponents with full teams of Pokemon, like the PWT. (Hell, maybe even just re-do the PWT)
You can also get your own Villa on the island like in Platinum, but with more customization on the level of RSE's secret bases (assuming they don't just fully re-implement the Secret Base system)
It's a cross between the Sevii Islands, Orange Islands from the anime and Johto's postgame
