Is it true that there is no way to hack a 3DS game?

If that's true, will we be unable to know the what the Kalos' shinies look like?

Yes, 3DS can't be hacked.

But since the shinies will be on static sprites in the menu (those tiny Pokemon sprites that are still in the game), it may be possible to datamine the extracted ROM to at least get an idea on color scheme on all of them.

There's a difference between theoretical possibility and present feasibility. Hacking a 3DS game is the former, but not the latter. Any game played locally (that is, not via connecting to a server with a client program such that the server actually implements the game) can be hacked.

As for shinies, I guess it's the slow road for now. If you see a shiny Kalos pokémon, screenshot it, etc. It may be hard to detect fakes.

Severely doubt this.
How can they hack the GTS process if they don't have access to the memory values/locations or how the code works?

It won't, because it's not possible to distinguish hacked mons from real. They are just numbers. You cannot tell numbers apart based on how the numbers were calculated.

But I think you have to know the internal workings of 3DS compatibility to do that, which might prevent GTS Spoofing.

Anyways OP, The 3DS and its cartridges are encrypted, unless hackers get around it, it won't be hacked for a long time.

Encryption means nothing when the decryption key is literally sitting there right between your hands. That's not to say cracking 3DS is trivial, but people on video game websites blow smoke up each other's asses about encryption without realizing that important fact. You don't have to break the encryption, you only have to obtain the key.

The actual physical guides you can buy in stores has all of that information. Even Pokedex 3D Pro has it, and I'd expect that to get an update for X/Y eventually.
