Stuff like this is really the reason why I didn't like Kanto. The region felt more like an artifical maze than an actual world that you could explore.

Although to be fair this fence business continued all the way up to Sinnoh I think.

That graphic always irritates me. Over half of those things are not even bugs but just differences between Gen I and later generations. Some of them, I would argue, should even be brought back and never should have been changed to begin with.

I'm not even a genwunner, btw. Of my top 5 favourite pokémon none are from gen I.

if youre gonna judge Kanto, judge it by the standards of FR/LG. It was GF's first entry. What did you expect? Especially for the device it was realised on, the time period, and style of play (Capturing monsters/turn based RPG) that was relatively new for the time.

Because the current "standards" are based on Gen III's metagame.

Gen I and Gen II both had wildly different metagames from each other and from Gen III onward. Since Gen III its all been the same crap.

Pokemon yellow was better imo because it played as a patched game. they fixed the original missingno glitch (until what was originally referred to as the gambler glitch was discovered) and updated move lists

for example dig/trio couldn't learn cut in R/B and charizard couldn't learn Fly. Also the Pokemon that can only be obtained through trades in R/B (farfetch'd and mr. mime plus others I think) were now in the wild.

And all but Pin Missile were on Poison-types almost exclusively.
And Pin Missile, being Bug back in gen 1, was a physical attack and on Jolteon, who was generally better off Thunderbolting.
