Is there a chance that there are more mega evolutions we dont know about yet? What about other legendary pokemon? 3 seems a bit small...

Maybe. There isn't a definitive answer on how you get more Mega Stones yet. People keep saying that Josh found the Aerodactylite in a cave but that's not true. He found the Aerodactyl FOSSIL in a cave but was given the Mega Stone by an NPC.

There have never been fewer than 5. I'm not going into >muh patterns but it just seems odd to have so few. I guess they could be trying to tone it down, but cutting it to 3 seems a bit drastic.

Also, there's guaranteed to be at least 1 or 2 event legendaries. Probably a new Mew and Mewtwo expy.

Legends: Unlikely. Usually the last of the box legendaries comes at the end of the dex. This was changed in DPP only due to additional evolutions and more Pokémon being unlocked in the post-game, which hasn't been the case here.

The megas and their stones will be distributed through Wi-Fi events like Torchic. I'm thinking that after Torchic all the others starters from Gen 2-5 will be available through download and other additional pokémon.
